The emancipation intelectuals

The emancipation intelectuals of theis no different from the emancipation of the workers: It is the release of human abilities to express them selves more easily and enjoyably. There is no great difference between the sculptor and the machinist or woodworker. A born doctor and a born auto mechanic readily understand each other. Between the biologist and the gardener there is no class contradiction. All these roles are alike in that soliary concebtration is the most essential aspect of the work involved. The important thing is not giving orders or directing other people's work, Creative but the painstaking confrontation with the material (which may also be symbolic or emotional). Study and experiment are the essence rather than teaching or direction, altrough these too are occasionally indispensable .

Even the film director or reseach supervisor is not distinguished by the power he has but by his vision, which can be realized only through team work. The writer has to deal at times with a publishing executive him self. The writer's goal is to have the publisher issue his book without changes in as many copies as possible, pay him the largest possible royality for it, and try to sell as many copies as he can.

Creative intellectuals don't want to be bosses; they want to be able to tinker, to invent, to create what they have imagined. Our utopia is quite simple: it is enough to be able to work - something magnificent in it self, provided our labors are not humiliating and useles. The creative intelectual is the superworker, the one who undertakes the most complicated kinds of activity. He is all right if he can offer his abilities on his own terms, not one the buyer's.
